Front Range Foods, LLC is a family-owned manufacturer & marketer of specialty & natural foods, based in Marina del Rey, California.    Front Range Foods’ product line currently includes the leading premium chocolate mousse mixes, crème brûlée mixes, and bread mixes in the U.S..  Formerly marketed by Nestlé USA, they are primarily sold
under the Inspired Cuisine™ brand name.

The company was founded by Keith Buschmann and Richard Lytle, consumer packaged goods industry veterans with over 50 years combined experience and a passion for specialty & natural foods.

How We Started

It all started with an ordinary phone call.  The voice on the line said, “Hey, did you hear?”  Those were the words that would lead us to drop everything and chase an unexpected dream.

It was November, 2006 and the voice was that of a friend and former co-worker, saying that our former employer- the world’s largest food company- was discontinuing their specialty food brands/product lines in the U.S. 

While that would hardly be an unusual event in the corporate world these days, it provided an immediate sense of regret.  Several friends were going to lose their jobs and some outstanding brands-  Nestlé ®European Style desserts and Buitoni ® baking mixes among them- that we had worked hard together to build for many years were being tossed aside along with them.

At the same time, we sensed a unique set of opportunities:  to resurrect these exceptional products, to fulfill entrepreneurial aspirations we had long harbored, to have more control over our own lives, and most importantly, to secure our continued supply of fabulous desserts!

So, the very next day after receiving that phone call, we began the process of trying to acquire the product lines.  One month later, having overcome dozens of obstacles, we had the outlines of a deal and quit our jobs to focus full-time on establishing the new business.

Now, as a growing small company, we aspire to build sustainable businesses by being more innovative and more accessible to our customers than our larger competitors, and to  reflect the best values & ethical standards in all of our dealings.
